What To Do?

I wish this life figuring out wasn't so damn hard.

I am having conflicts. It seems as if my whole life is just one huge conflict. This is the same conflict I have dealt with for a long time. Everyone deals with this conflict as well, not just me.

I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

I know, I know. I'm only 18, but I want to start doing something with my life now! I feel like as I write this post that I could be doing something else. I know that also that writing helps me vent, but I still feel like something is wrong. I want to be in the arts. I want to do hair, I love music and I want to do something with that. I also have these ideas to become an actor and be in the movies or be a model. So many things that I find exciting. Although I have huge dreams I don't have the motivation to start anything and I do not know what to do! HELP!!

Maybe I should do all of them! That could work, right? I could start out by going to hair school, then after hair school find an agent while working at a salon or something. Then during movies and stuff I could write music. See, that isn't so hard? Please.. I could never! Although, I could try! I just want to be able to do something with my life.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

  2. Try it all Michael. I know there is alot of things i want to try, like interior design, being a message therapist, being a florist...I've gone to school to be a dental assistant and i loved the skills it gave me. I want to do all of them but i can't do them all at once. Your idea i think is a great one. Do hair, audition, write music. Don't be in a rush. We only live once, so don't waste it in a negative light. Enjoy it. Have fun.

  3. There are two huge benefits to college that shouldn't be discounted:

    1. It gives you time to figure out what you really want to do.
    2. It provides you access to a large variety of different subjects, which help broaden your knowledge and shape your career goals.

You could probably do hair while going to college. It would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone, and avoid some of the debt that typically goes along with a college education.

  4. Michael you are an amazing person with a lot of talent. I know what you mean about wanting to do a bunch of different things, and trying to decide what you want to do with your life. I know exactly how confusing that is. I think that you can do anything you put your mind to. Try it all mix it up. Do what makes you happy. :)

  5. Michael, I was like before. I wanted to do a lot of things. But I realized that I couldnt do them all at once.

So my suggestion is, Try them all, but one by one. After you feel capable enough handling one thing, go to another thing.

    Good luck.

  6. You've got plenty of time to make up your mind. I wish I had followed more of my dreams when I was 18. Try it all, and see what works for you!

  7. You have time to try lots of things Michael. But I'm with El Genio here. A college degree is essential. You can explore all your talents and career choices along the way.
